An immersive term in conference interpreting

It has been an exceptionally dynamic term for conference interpreting.

As a member of the EMCI and an EU Center of Excellence, we organized two mock conferences, held two online pedagogical assistance sessions with the European Commission, one face-to-face training session with the former Chief Interpreter of the OECD, welcomed colleagues from the EMCI and the European Parliament, and successfully completed two EMCI Quality Assurance Audits—one for our final exams and another for our classes.

In our undergraduate program, our instructors coordinated five parallel sections of each interpreting course with precision and care, culminating in joint exams for over 60 students, conducted individually across seven simultaneous sessions.

Our thanks go to our interpreting instructors Fatma Artunkal, Deniz Cebe, Bahar Çotur, Ebru Diriker, Belgin Dölay, Hande Güner, Bilge Has, Seha Karadeniz, Ahu Latifoğlu Doğan, Daniela Lepori, Nedime Mercangöz, Merve Pehlivan Frostick, Jonathan Ross, Hatice Soytorun, and Ezgi Ünlüer. As always, many thanks to our research assistants Fırat Ceylan, Nur Zeynep Kürük Erçetin, Erdem Hürer, and Emine Özdemir.

A truly impressive collective effort. On to many more!
